I had to give Welcome Home Cafe at 307 Old York Road its flowers because this meal was GOOD!
I had the salmon and grits, and everything tasted fresh, homemade, and made with care. The salmon was flavorful, the grits were on point, and it was the kind of food that actually tastes like somebody back there knows what they're doing.
I also tried the seafood rolls with the mild sauce with dill in it. Listen... that sauce! The rolls were delicious on their own, but that sauce brought everything together. Definitely something I would order again.
BUT THAT GINGER TURMERIC DRINK!!!
I had THREE of them. Three! They were that good. Fresh, strong, refreshing, and full of flavor. By the third one I felt like I could run a marathon, come back, cut the grass, clean the house, and still have enough energy to ask for another one!
Everything we had was tasty, homemade, and worth the trip. Welcome Home Cafe definitely lived up to the name because the food had that comforting, made-at-home feeling.

My ONLY complaint is the parking. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but come early and grab a seat. I had the MOST DELISH fried fish(Swai) and grits. I didn't even miss the eggs. That fish was so light and moist and crunchy, If you have shellfish allergies then these AMAZING cheese grits with Cafe sauce are not for you, more for me 🤩 so mmmmmm good. It's an intimate space and they say "Welcome Home" when you enter, we loved that. We had to wait a little while to get menus after being seated. We got the food and it was amazing. I got a breakfast wrap with a side of grits and my friend got a crab and shrimp wrap and they both were amazing. We even got a chance to chat with the owner who came to the table when we paid. We had been patronizing this place for a few years. Their food is good. However, the wait was really long. It took nearly an hour and a half to get served and eat. Also, the server was a bit short with one of the members on my party. To me, after we waited that long, were repeat customers, and paid well over one hundred dollars for breakfast for just three people, the server could have been nicer. The person the server was rude to was very patient and did not complain about the enormously long wait. There is something to be said for customer service even when things are busy. We will not be back.

This place is stupendous! The food is scrumptious and needs no further enhancements when it's served. the quality and quantity of food is outstanding for the price. The staff fantastic and others diners are affected by their graciousness so there is a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The business is very equitable; they take credit cards but give a discount if cash is used. If you ask for some sprinkles of cheese (highest quality like all of the food my daughter and I had) on your grits you are charged a fair price, not a fortune. My only hope is that they can expand soon so there is more seating space!!

My daughter and I went to Welcome Home for Easter breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised how quick we were able to get seated. The place is cozy and homely. We ordered shrimp/ fried fish/ grits, oats/ fruit and crab bisque soup.
Everything was hot and delicious! Every order of food we saw looked good. The next time I will try the crab cakes.
The lady who took our order was very friendly and pleasant. This is definitely our new food spot. I 'll give it a 10 .

It is a small cafe but very nice music playing and a very nice space. I ordered the tumeric lemon ginger lemonade and it was SO good! This is our 3rd time visiting. We live a little over an hour away but the food is always worth the drive. I tried the fried shrimp with grits and added a piece of fish. He chose the shrimp and waffles with a side of grits. Both dishes were a hit. The café sauce on the grits definitely enhances the dish. Stopped here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a small, boutique-style restaurant with just a handful of tables, but the welcome was warm and the atmosphere instantly comfortable. The food was excellent—and I was dining with a picky eater!

I had the grilled salmon, which was incredibly fresh and seasoned perfectly, paired with some of the creamiest grits I’ve ever had. My picky eater ordered the chicken and waffles, and both were cooked to perfection. Lisa, our attendant, was wonderfully kind and friendly; you can tell the regulars know her well.

I’m so glad we stumbled upon this gem. And definitely try the ginger and lemon iced tea—it’s freshly made and absolutely delicious!

As a lifelong hospitslity professional, I advise others to only come here if everywhere else is booked up. The kitchen only made half the ticket; the server wasn’t checking in on us where only one person was served and WE had to ask where the rest of our food was. How do you drop a plate for one person and let the other person at a 2 top sit without food for 15+ minutes while also dropping plates at tables arrived after us? Then when we remind our server the food is missing we have to wait longer for the food and we’re offered a paltry discount. Water wasn’t offered. Tables left unbussed next to us. For a ~20 seat restaurant w 2 servers, this should never have happened. What a joke. At least when the NYC priced food does show up it tastes good, so there’s that. If there was more competition in town, no way would this super mid service stand. Tipped 20% out of pity, def not for quality. I hope the owner does clap at me so I can teach them how to actually run a restaurant

I've been here many times and been so happy. But I can't ignore what I saw last time. The ginger iced tea is powdered and badly mixed, the french toast tasted double fried, the Denver omelet and the potatoes didn't have much peppers and onions, and the English muffin was dripping with butter. The worst however was seeing the severs long nails dip into almost everything she touched, no cleaning in between. On top of all that is the price and my husband got sick. Won't be back anytime soon

This place is very small. We arrived to no one there to seat us. There was a waitress who said that there would be a wait to be seated. Ok there were two empty tables, no hostess. My boyfriend and I both had the Chicken & Waffle along with several other customers. And I see why! Chicken was well seasoned, crispy AND so juicy! The waffle was fluffy and had a nice crunch without being dry like some places.

I’m rarely in the area, but remember hearing about a “new-ish place” in Jenkintown. I decided to stop here for lunch instead of going to a larger chain. I’m so happy that I did. I ordered salmon club and it was tender, hot, and delicious. The staff was amazing, kind, and professional. The place is intimate (small), but the vibe is very relaxed. As a matter of fact, I think I could hear Maxwell quietly playing in the background which was relaxing. The mood combined with the fresh-good eats, and pleasant service makes this place a win.

An impromptu brunch suggested by my bestie led us to Welcome Home Cafe on Tuesday June 3rd. We were welcomed by Ms Stephanie and greeted by our server, Ms Lisa. Both were amazing. I thought I would just have coffee, but I’m a sucker for a “ great menu”. Bestie and I started with the Beets & Berries smoothie….Perfecto. I settled on the Salmon BLT w/ Avocado and bestie ordered the Loaded Cajun Sweet Potato , Kale Caesar salad and later the Ginger Lemon Mint iced tea. Everything was absolutely delicious. I’ve had Salmon sandwiches at other places that were tough pieces of overcooked salmon meat BUT Welcome Home Cafes Salmon BLT was fresh, tender salmon with gently prepared Turkey bacon all on a Brioche roll. Hands down, the best salmon sandwich I’ve ever had! I also sampled the Loaded Sweet Potato w/ jerk chicken and pineapple mango, that Jawn was slammin’ yeah, another “ hands down “ winner. Oh, the the lemon, ginger, mint tea was a welcome refreshing balanced drink. As we ate I watched some of the plates coming front the kitchen, the one that caught my eye was the “ grilled vegetable sandwich “. That’s for my next visit. The atmosphere warm friendly and actually felt like being at a “ good” friends place. It’s a hidden gem in Jenkintown, I’m so happy that bestie suggested going AND that I don’t live far. Outstanding! Everything was on point from the cleanliness, the service, and the food. Lisa was outstanding. The tables were thoroughly cleaned as was the restroom. Coffee was piping hot. The waffle was fluffy and crispy around the outer edge. The eggs were very fresh and the french toast casserole was scrumptious and delicious. The meats were also very good and cooked just right. The grits? They were smooth, creamy and buttery. Every item was flavorful. There was nothing bland on our plates. I highly recommend eating here and would definitely like to return to try other menu items.

Stumbled across this black owned restaurant when looking for a casual brunch spot. I had the eggs Benny, my wife had the fried fish and grits- literal best fish and grits ever! We’ve been back 2 weekends in a row, and will likely be back next Sunday.

Fresh juices are great, esp the beetroot and green juice. Staff and owner are welcoming with a nice vibe, a true Gem in Jenkintown!

One soon as you walk in the door they are attentive and kind. The place is small and cozy. The food is amazing. I had the vegan crab cake as a sandwich and it was good. My friend had the French toast casserole and loved it without any syrup needed.

I would definitely repeat. Our waiter was on point and very insightful.

My husband and I stopped in here on our way home from a long morning of appointments at fox chase. I was desperately in need of some coffee and food and I think we have our new go-to place for our way home now, the food was that good.

I ordered coffee and the turkey ham and cheese quiche, and my husband got the chicken and waffles. The quiche was absolutely delicious, and came with a side of grits that were some of the best grits I’ve ever had; they were creamy and flavorful and just perfect. I almost finished them. My husband ate every bite of his chicken and waffles (although he shared one with me) and he loved them. Looking around at what everyone else ordered I am looking forward to coming back to try some of the other things on the menu; the shrimp and grits looked out of this world!

On top of that, the woman who greeted/sat us was so nice and welcoming, overall it was a lovely experience.

The vegan options are tasty too - one of the few places I can go with my Vegan father where he actually has options.

I ordered the seafood omelette with potatoes and added onions and peppers and a side of beef bacon and my partner ordered the salmon cake and grits with a side of fried fish and all the food was delicious. I really enjoyed my experience dining at Welcome Home. The service was incredible and took care of everything I needed. The place is so cozy and comfortable. One thing I will say is that this small is very small and when it gets busy, it gets packed. I dined here on the weekend and felt a bit claustrophobic because of this. I recommend stopping by during the week if possible. As for the food, I ordered an Eggs Benedict and enjoyed it a lot. The hollandaise sauce was incredible. I was surprised that I didn’t enjoy the breakfast potatoes as much as I thought I would. They didn’t taste as good as they looked. That being said, the rest of the dishes I have tried from here have been great! Their menu selection is also incredible with dishes you can’t get anywhere else!

Tiny breakfast joint! Welcome Home is perfect if you are looking for that authentic homemade soul breakfast. They have options for everyone plus dessert! I will say we waited 45 minutes to be seated on a Tuesday late morning, but it was worth it. Food was delicious and the service was good. We stumbled upon a treasure today. A breakfast, brunch, and lunch neighborhood spot in the heart of Jenkintown called the Welcome Home Cafe. As we walked in, we were greeted most charmingly with "Welcome Home!" We were thrilled that it was a black owned, LGBTQ friendly spot. The food was really quite good! But most delightful part was getting to know the staff, especially Lisa and Stephanie. We stayed chatting until everyone else had already left, and we felt like we were talking to family friends! Horrible experience on to go order. My wife and kids dined in and brought me home the worst chicken and waffles I have ever had. Chicken is not chewable. Called in to let them know and was told I had to come there with the food and then wait for them to prepare another order. Couldn't give me store credit as if I had time. I was nearby for an early morning interview and Googled breakfast near me. Welcome Home Cafe had good reviews and was 10 minutes away, so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. Excellent breakfast in a great setting and wonderful service. Also, probably the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. Well worth a visit and will return when I get to town.

I decided to support a black owned business today and Welcome Home Cafe in Jenkintown, PA is by far the BEST place EVER! The husband and wife team (John and Stephanie) were pleasant, they were busy holding it DOWN helping customers and checking to see if we were okay…. The atmosphere was inviting the food was DELICIOUS!!! …I had the 2 Salmon patties, grits (no lumps) lol and cheese eggs…and it was perfectly seasoned and the music was on point! Omg! This down to earth cafe IS THE BEST in Montgomery County. The owner is so beautiful spiritually inside /out which is why the quality in the menu is down right made from LOVE! I pray she can expand to allow a little more tables so more folks can sit down in fellowship. Listen this is the truth… Her grits will have you ready to have church and the salmon cakes are just indescribable… you just have to taste them. The Belgium waffles will have your eyes roll behind your head.. so light they melt in your mouth. The menu is made from scratch… EVERYTHING! Oh she shared a story of a customer ordered a Cobb salad and she ran out of blue cheese dressing… This Angel made the blue cheese dressing from scratch and the customer told her that was the best Cobb salad he has ever had. THATS LOVE FOLKS.. Please go and experience The Love at Welcome Home Cafe … I can’t wait to return very soon so my husband can try. I sent a few friends and they blew up my phone and said I told the truth the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth! I honestly will be sticking with Welcome Home Cafe for my breakfast/brunch meals.

We had a delightful lunch at the Welcome Home Cafe. We were met at the door with the greeting “Welcome home” and we felt at home throughout our experience. The 2 lovely ladies were attentive, shared specials and recommendations, and accommodated my request for an ingredient substitution with ease. The fresh flowers on the tables were a cheerful touch and the hanging plants overhead were quaint. The grits were warm, creamy comfort. The wake-up Bennie was delicious. And the grilled vegetable sandwich was superb with a flavorful glaze on the vegetables. It was great to find an individually owned and run cafe in a sea of chain counter service fast food restaurants, where the food was homemade and the atmosphere felt relaxing and the service made us feel like guests. This may well be our new go-to spot!

I am so grateful I stumbled on this gem. The atmosphere is beautiful - tons of natural light, and plants everywhere! I was remiss in getting the server’s name but she was on top of everything & seemed genuinely interested in making sure all the diners were having a good experience. Thank you for that!

The owner wound up coming out and letting all the patrons know she was collecting donations to assist the victims of the wildfires in CA. I couldn’t help but love her immediately- compassion seems a rarity these days and it just elevated the vibe even more.
