We decided to host our graduation/engagement party event at the Luminary Downtown/ Bottle Shop and can only say GREAT words about how the event turned out.

Joel, the coordinator, went above and beyond! He let me tour early in advance and day of we were able to decorate the place, play music from personalized playlist, and offer a personalized menu. Joel even made the accommodation to make announcements occasionally and always checked in with our party!

The food was a great variety and I can't rave about the wine selection enough. Thank you to the staff/bartenders for your service and thank you to the dessert team for making our grad cakes/cookies look amazing.

I’ve had very positive experiences here in the past, so this visit was surprisingly disappointing.

Our party of four adults and two children arrived around 5 PM on a Saturday. We did not have reservations, so waiting for a table was completely understandable.

However, the interaction with the hostess was not pleasant. Customer service sets the tone for the entire experience, and unfortunately, this first impression fell short.

While we waited, we spent time in the game area, which was a nice bonus. The food itself was good — the pickle pizza and truffle fries were especially enjoyed, and everyone liked their beverages. Our server was busy but pleasant.

What was concerning, though, was noticing what appeared to be possible mold in the dessert cooler, covering portions of the shelving. I sincerely hope this was not the case, but it was unsettling to see.

Finally tried luminary after quite a while of looking, Took the kids over during our yearly stay at splash Lagoon. The kids shared a pepperoni and mushroom pizza which they said was very good. I got a turkey club, which I have been craving and it did not disappoint. I was hesitant to get the fries because I’m usually not a fan of fresh cut but these were salty and crispy and perfect! My boyfriend got the cowboy burger I believe and he thought it was really good. The staff was so friendly, and the atmosphere of the place was great. I was able to bring a a game over to the table to keep our two-year-old occupied. Of course, we had to get a brownie for him from the bakery and a boozy cupcake for me. Excited to go back

We stopped in yesterday for the first time for a quick drink and we were not disappointed. My husband did a spirit flight and enjoyed all he tried. The brandy was excellent! I had a berry Long Island that was very good as well. I accidentally left my phone when we left but didn’t realize it until we were home and we live over an hour away so my husband called and they were kind enough to lock it up for me. We came back this morning for it and decided to stay for brunch. Again…not disappointed at all! We both had the breakfast sandwich and it was fantastic! The bread was toasted but still fluffy and soft. The aioli was delicious. Definitely not a boring breakfast sandwich by any means. The staff was super friendly and attentive as well. We will absolutely be coming back!

Hands down the best Reuben sandwich I have ever had, the balance of corned beef, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing inside their homemade rye leaves nothing more to be desired, absolute culinary perfection. Excellent choice for lunch. Easy access off of I-90. I had the Apple, Walnut, Cranberry salad with locally sourced ingredients which was absolutely delicious. We had an enjoyable first visit to Luminary Distilling. They are closed Mondays. Open Tuesday-Thurs 10-9, Fri-Sat 9-10 and Sundays 10-3. There is an old-fashioned-tin-look ceiling and a fireplace. The sweets are delicious. Their cinnamon rolls are huge! They make me think of a curling stone. They had apple fritters (also tasty), cheesecake, chocolate covered bacon, carrot cake, chocolate cake, tiramisu, cookies, donuts. Appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches and pizzas are available. Four different flights can be purchased and a selection of merch. We had good staff, good food and a good time. Looking forward to visiting again on our trips to Erie. Glad we came across this great find.

My niece wanted the apple crisp to go and it was not warm and no ice cream that the menu said. I went to counter and wanted a sticky bun with pecans on it but when I got home it was a big cinnamon roll that was weak in cinnamon. First and last time ever going here.

A wonderful spot for Sunday brunch or decadent baked goods. I had a lovely breakfast with a bloody Mary flight and a prime rib omelette. The bloody Marys were interesting as they had numerous kinds of liquor such as vodka, whiskey, gin and Tequila. My favorite was the gin(pleasantly different) and least favorite was the whiskey(whiskey just doesn't work in a bloody IMHO).
As for the food it was well prepared and delicious. Lots of attention to detail and very fresh. My omelette was rich and very large. It was also delivered with a smile by a very attentive wait staff.
We also had a breakfast pizza which was very generous in size and could feed 2-3 people easily.
Overall, this is a great stop in Erie and is very convenient to folks traveling through since it is right off the I90 Peach St exit.

First time going and what a gem. Tried burger and salad all looked and tasted vey fresh. As they are a backery, resturant and distillery. The food ordered was well above bar basic food. Tried distillery flights where there moonshine and smoked whiskey really stood out. The moonshine flavor tastes exactly like what it says ot is. The food was phenomenal! We went on Father’s Day, and although they were busy, we never had a problem with someone checking on us to make sure everything was good. Both the chicken and donut in the meal had great flavor and texture. They complimented each other wonderfully. If you’ve had their donuts before though, then this is no surprise. The breakfast burger also had a lot of good flavor, and was cooked to perfection. Note that we dug into the French toast platter before I could get a good picture of it, but it was loaded with food. They didn’t skimp on the bacon. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I like this place, the food is different and good!! My only complaint is the coffee. It's horrible. I have waited a few months between each visit hoping they would change the coffee. It's the same, very dark, old, not fresh. No amount of creamer can even lighten it up and save it. I will return and speak to management if nothing changes.

Overall, very disappointed in todays brunch experience. Our family of 6 came in and ordered waters and food. We were greeted quickly and had our orders taken right away. However, it went downhill quickly after. We ended up waiting about 55 minutes for our food (we got sat at about 1 and food order was taken at about 1:05). After asking if our food was almost done we were told it would be just a few more minutes. As things got dropped off we were told we would be receiving a discount on our food. Note: A manager never came to address the situation and the server never checked to make sure everything tasted ok. Upon closing out our check and getting our receipt we were given a measly 20% off discount and a mousy “sorry about that” from the manager as we walked out the door. Also, upon looking through the toast handheld it appears that our food was sent in at 1:59, this was also backed up by the time stamp on our receipt. Waiting almost an hour for “breakfast” food is absolutely insane and the lack of customer service was some of the worst I’ve experienced. Everyone is human, and forgetting to send food back is an accident. But the way the manager handled the situation, by doing absolutely nothing, was where the ball was REALLY dropped.

We got the Cranberry daiquiri (a little on the small size but flavorful and unique) and campfire mule (tastes similar to a s'mores and I liked the addition of the roasted marshmallow garnish) and the rail bender Scottish ale

For food: Luminary Reuben with umami fries (the Reuben was very flavorful and well balanced in terms of bread to filling and the umami fries are a MUST. I had to order my own fries after trying them) and pear and prosciutto pizza (Crispy dough, juicy but soft pears and other tasty toppings. The best way I can describe it is sweet and salty so if that's not your thing I wouldn't recommend it)

The bathroom was small (2 stalls) but clean

The only negative I'll say is that there was a very large group there when I visited (appeared to be celebrating a kids sports event) so there was a lot of yelling and noise; but that's not the facilities fault

But the overall ambiance once the loud tables left was very pleasant

We got Take Out since it was so late and no one really wanted to leave the hotel after a long day of swimming. I was starving but I did not want a super heavy dinner. I am beyond excited that we found Luminary Distilling! Sorry for the hotel bed pictures of our food, but it was so good! EVERYTHING was fantastic, even as take out! We started with sharing a seasonal salad, no meat. The strawberry dressing was fantastic! Next we shared a charcuterie board and everything in the box was nicely placed and still looked great, even after a bumpy car ride to get it back to the hotel. The star of the (bed) sped was the baked Brie with the espresso reduction! It was perfect! I loved every bite! I didn’t want to share! And then my next favorite was the Prosciutto & Peaches pizza! My son got a regular pepperoni pizza to eat and it was good too, but the peaches one was perfect! One of my other kids got a burger but he had it eaten before we could get pictures, it was so good. We loved that we could get fresh fruit instead of the typical French fries for him. When I went for pick up, I didn’t realize there had a small shop area! They sell their goods that they cook with so I was able to come home with some of the yummy items that they sold, like Hops Tea! I was able to place my order on my phone, which was super easy!

We have been coming to Luminary for brunch since they started serving it. This recent time has been the most disappointing experience we have had. We were a party of 8, besides us, there were maybe 2 to 3 other tables, not packed by any means.
3 crab cake / egg orders, 1 breakfast pizza, 1 chicken & Belgian waffles, a cinnamon roll, a chicken salad sandwich, and dippy eggs with bacon and toast.

To start, the breakfast potato’s that came with the majority of the orders were cold, wrinkly, as if they were pre cooked and set to the side for the day. The bacon was sloppy and seemed like it barely touched the grill top. All 3 crab cake orders were lukewarm at best.
The cinnamon roll seemed homemade, but was also served cold. The toast for the dippy eggs was not brought out with the order, by the time it was, the eggs were cold and the toast was not buttered and instead came with 2 cold butter packs. The breakfast pizza seemed like it was also thrown together with pre cooked items and was close to room temp.
The real kicker was the chicken and waffles with hot honey. It came with 2 small pre packaged chicken tenders and about 4-6 very thin waffle wedges. This dish was actually warm, but that was the only highlight. At least 3 of the waffle wedges were dark brown and crunchy like a potato chip as if they had been fried and not out of an actual waffle maker. Even iHop has proper Belgian waffles that come out thick and fluffy. There was a very small drizzle of the hot honey on the 2 tenders, and a small thimble of syrup for the entire meal.
On top of the experience, there were also menu changes that seemed to reflect the place going cheap and switching to more pre packaged items for the menu.

All this to say, we will not be back. We had all raved about Luminary’s brunch and always had a friendly experience as well as good food. It’s so disappointing when local places go down hill like this. Not sure if it’s staffing issues or an attempt at cutting costs by serving lack luster items, which aren’t the cheapest either. Used to be worth the money, but I recommend anyone stay far away and spend that money elsewhere.

Our family of 8 dined her on Sunday June 23. To say we were disappointed is an understatement . We ordered an array of items off of the menu and there wasn’t one meal that my family was satisfied other than my nephews cinnamon roll. Everyone at our table that had eggs on their dish were way over cooked. The sunny side up eggs were so over cooked. The $18 crab cake Benedict, the eggs were over cooked. The chicken and waffles, so disappointing. The waffles were like rocks they were so over cooked. The breakfast pizza, was so over done. Those who had potatoes, you could tell they sat there and may have been reheated. None of our meals were hot. They were slightly warm. I just didn’t understand how you can charge that much? You put a price like that on food, it has to live up to it. When the waitress decided to come around to the table we were just definitely ready to leave. We mentioned that we didn’t have a good experience and it was ignored. Lesson learned.

We had an excellent dinner and drinks tonight at Luminary. My salmon was perfect, not over seasoned like some restaurants. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals.

First visit. In a party of 12-13 people and service was excellent. Everyone raved about the food, everything from burgers, pizza and salads. Being taco night, myself and several other went for the blackened shrimp tacos. Delicious. We were a little concerned about tartness of the pickled onions and got them on the side. Sorry we did because they were prefect and we could have used more! Being first visit I tried a flight of whiskeys to get a chance to try as many as possible. Vodka got my vote I'm looking forward to a vodka martini on my return visit, which will be soon!

This place has an interesting atmosphere. We went in not knowing what to expect and walked away pretty confused about what the overall goal was. It has an eating hall/cafeteria kind of vibe to the dining room where everyone is just sitting in the middle of an open space and a fairly large bar sits against the wall on one side.

We ordered two drinks and while I (a cider Manhattan) was able to finish mine, my partners (a seasonal Paloma of sorts) was so bad that even the waitress initiated the conversation of a replacement. She asked how it was with a fearful expression as if they already knew it wasn’t a good one. She stated that this one had received “many mixed reviews”. Fortunately she willingly offered us a free replacement.

The pizza was assembled and cut without care, and the crust left much to be desired. The Mediterranean salad was the highlight of our visit, despite the fact that it arrived with shrimp even though it was ordered with no protein.

We were visited by what I presume to be a manager (no introduction was provided) who asked how everything was in such a quick, mumbled tone that we were left nodding out of confusion.

I can see that this would be a fun venue for events like trivia and whatnot, but our visit on a Saturday afternoon definitely left much to be desired.

I have been to luminary several times and enjoy their food and drinks and the atmosphere. I also like the fact that I am supporting local as well…I do applaud the ownership of the establishment after a bit of a negative experience, they called to apologize and I truly do appreciate that…good customer service goes a long way..

First time at this lovely place yesterday, and boy, were we impressed! The menu options made my mouth water from the start. Pricing was very reasonable. We had a large table (12+ ppl) but all of our food came out quickly, tasting hot and fresh. My sister and I split the breakfast pizza and the burrito, and I honestly couldn't decide which I enjoyed more! The breakfast potatoes were also tasty - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm not a Bloody Mary fan, but I might be one now after tasting theirs. I wish we lived closer, because I would make this a regular brunch spot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It's a nice place with great food and drinks, but it seems inconsistent. We've tried to go for lunch on occasion and the entire restaurant is bought out for an event. That's fine! But it'd be nice to be aware that they're not serving before our group gets excited and drives out there. Either an event schedule on the website or on Facebook or something.

Edit: Saw the owners reply, and turns out the time was posted to Instagram, so I'll add a star back. Also knew him as a really good math teacher, so points for that as well.

We stopped in just to see what it was like and ended up eating a late lunch there. Chicken salad was delicious...and the fries were the best ever! The only problem was I hadn't eaten anything that day yet so didn't get to try one..or three...of their specialty drinks, which I plan on doing on our next visit which I plan for my birthday.

We also bought pastries for Sunday morning and they were the best ever. The cinnamon roll was big enough for a family and the cheese danish were scrumptious!

The two waitpeople (?) we're running around like crazy and doing a great job. Even though busy, the waitress took time to talk to us.

Amazing food taste and quality, perfect place for brunches with a nice atmosphere. Tried the breakfast croissant and it was very good. The food is nicely balanced and delicious here. If I changed anything it would be to add something crunchy to the salad. The rueben was good and the bread didn't get soggy. The chicken wrap was very good as well. I really enjoyed the apple moonshine but wasn't a fan of the peach and cherry. The flavors weren't as present.

I really enjoy and appreciate good Martinis and good drinks.

The Luminary had six or so Martinis to choose from. I had 2 of them, one being a Pumpkin one. Both were delicious!

They also have flavored Moscow Mules. Those are also really good!

For those who don't know - a Moscow Mule is Vodka and Ginger Beer. The Luminary only uses Gem City Vodka.

They also have Furhman's Apple Cider and some delicious drinks made with that cider.

You can also buy pastries and cider separately to take home with you.

The seating is very open and airy. The staff are super nice.

Great experience here. Baked goods were delicious and inexpensive. The Old Fashioned was good. The peach and basil mule was amazing. The burger was good. The umami fries were amazing - well with the upgrade to a meal. While a bit more expensive than other places in the area; the quality surpasses any chain you'll find in the area. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for lunch and had to try the pretzel pub burger w/bacon, “I was told it’s the best burger ever, definitely was a pretty awesome burger cooked to perfection, had some chicken nachos as a appetizer those were so good I didn’t get a picture but definitely do yourself a favor and stop, thanks for the great food awesome service! Wonderful spirits. Get a flight and go from there. Good kids menu for food. Excellent adult food. Good selection of pastries. Decided to head up to Luminary for a beverage. They have recently expanded into the old Furman's Cider Mill. It was a great move on their part. Great decor and ambience. Staff and owners are fantastic, they enjoy talking with the customers. Because they expanded they now serve food, not just drinks. They have appetizers, pizzas and more. Plus you can purchase all their bottles to take home. You've got moonshine, whiskey, vodka and rum all distilled and bottled on site. The tables were socially distanced. They have an awesome selection of mules and martinis as well as other drinks including an apple cider slushie. I ordered "She's My Cherry Lime" mule & my friend got the "Apple Pie" mule. They were so yummy, I could have stayed there longer and ubered home, lol. They also have wine from a local vineyard. We ordered their charcuterie board. Presentation was great and the selections of cheese and meat was on point. The only thing I would tweak is opt for a home-made mustard to replace either the honey or the jam to balance sweet & savory. But definitely not a complaint. Another great experience, can't wait to head back.

This is a really nice place to gather and enjoy a small menu of select items and a glass of wine or hard cider with friends. It has an upscale feel without being pretentious. The feeling of a pub or small scale eatery with a smattering of little tables is warm and inviting. I miss the little store that Furman's cider had there, but they still sell those treats and beverages, just not the souvenir/kitchen gadgets they had before. The little cider fest they put on recently was nice and allowed more people to come and see what's changed on the premises and reminded the people of Erie what a special place we have here.
