Description

Since 2006, Jimmy Wan’s is where Pittsburgh families gather, celebrate, and eat really well. We are a family-owned restaurant built on recipes passed down through generations. We bring bold flavors and thoughtful hospitality to every table because that is how we would want to be treated, too. From wok-fired classics, fresh sushi rolls and cocktails worth lingering over, every dish reflects the care that comes from cooking for the people you love.

We use locally sourced ingredients and traditional techniques, not because it is trendy, but because it is the way it has always been done in kitchens that care. Whether it is your first visit or your fiftieth, we are here to give you something worth coming back for.

Made an order online and called to ask them to put the sauce on the side and the woman who answered said they probably already started and repeated and explained it to me a couple of times and then I said while you're saying all this you could have been in the kitchen and told them. She got angry and hung up on me, very rude. But because I love the food here I will continue to order but for as much money as I spend here, I don't like how I was treated over the phone.

I ordered again today and the same lady answered the phone with her ignorant self rushing me off the phone and it's getting old. Hire somebody who actually likes to do their job or put her in the back where she's not interacting with customers because she's ridiculous. My issue has nothing to do with the ordering process the only thing I would say about that is have it set up where you could say you don't want the sauce on the food. The problem is with the woman's rude behavior. Please don't try to make it about the third party. She needs to do better. Nobody wants to call your restaurant and speak to somebody who talks over them and rushes them off the phone. If you need more help get it.

Most of the food was really good except for my dumplings they were not cooked all the way on the outside. I had to throw them in my air fryer. I was very surprised that's the first time something wasn't good there.

The decor and service is great. But I think that’s to lull you into a sense of false security because the food is absolutely the most overpriced Chinese I’ve ever had. It’s not bad, as you can eat it, but for the money it’s very disappointing and low quality.

Each item has a quality of buffet food that is about to be swapped out for fresher food but hasn’t yet. The lo mein is overtly oily and not well seasoned. The chicken was tired and rubbery and not even portioned well. Rice is bland and instant. The fried foods are slathered in a clearly bottled sweet and sour sauce making them soggy by the time it gets to your table.

If it was a quarter of the price I could imagine being fine with it. However considering the quality of much cheaper restaurants in the area I wouldn’t say that.

For reference:

At Thai and Noodle Outlet you can get two full meals of excellent quality with enough for leftovers for half the price that come with rice instead of tacking it on.

At Ichiban it’s closer to the prices however you get a much better quality of food even if the service is similar. Flavorful, better cooked, seasoned and fresh.

Again, the service and building are very beautiful but clearly based on the meals this is a lounge with a microwave dinner station attached to it.

Absurdly overpriced.

The most bland greasy overpriced food I’ve ever had, how can you mess up lo mein? Im not even exaggerating. I passed the cool dragon billboard, and it seems they put all the money into the billboard and not into the food. It was lukewarm, sat all day, overpriced buffet food. As if they got it from the freezer warmed it up at 6am and sat it under a food lamp for the rest of the day. Will never come here again. Service was great though!

Jimmy Wan’s in Fox Chapel has become the restaurant I compare every other restaurant to. The food is exceptional, the cocktails are outstanding, and the service always makes you feel like a regular.

Grab a seat at the bar, let the bartenders create a custom cocktail, and honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Our family’s favorite is the General Tso’s Chicken and if the Crispy Rice is on the menu, GET IT. You’ll thank me later.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. It’s the kind of place that brings us back time and time again and has become a tradition whenever we’re in the area.

My friend and I had a very unpleasant experience due to both poor service and unprofessional behavior. Upon arrival, the bartender did not greet us and instead placed menus and water down without acknowledgment. When checking IDs, she abruptly snatched them from our hands, which felt disrespectful.
Despite the bar not being busy, it took approximately 15–20 minutes for her to take our order. When my friend expressed that she did not like her drink, the bartender responded dismissively and did not offer any alternatives or assistance. I later shared that I did not enjoy my drink either, as it had an overly syrupy taste, but was told it could not be removed from the bill because I mentioned it “too late,” even though I had not finished it.
I asked to speak with a manager, but the situation escalated further. The manager initially defended the bartender rather than addressing the concern, then discussed my complaint with her in a way that led to the bartender confronting me directly. Instead of resolving the issue, the bartender argued with me and made an inappropriate assumption that I was accusing her of racism, which I never stated. The comment, “I’m not racist, that’s the card you want to play,” was particularly unprofessional and inappropriate.
While the drink was eventually removed from my bill, the overall experience reflected a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and inadequate conflict resolution from both the bartender and management.

I’ve never dined in at Jimmy Wan’s however I have been in the restaurant and can say that the staff I met was pleasant and the atmosphere was clean and presentable.
I ordered through Uber Eats and was slightly disappointed considering all of the hype I’ve heard about their food.
Ordered their sautéed sesame chicken, eight treasure fried rice, and wonton soup. The positives: portions are substantial, they don’t skimp on their protein inclusions in their fried rice, and the food was cooked well and a good temperature when I received it. The negatives: nothing had flavor. I understand the eight treasure rice is made with no soy sauce, or Hong Kong street style as I’ve been taught in previous Asian restaurants I’ve worked in, but there was little to no seasoning, at most maybe garlic powder or fresh garlic? Same for the sesame chicken. The sauce was very watery, and just lacked flavor. I was expecting sweet and tangy, but there was neither. And again no seasoning.
The soup was hot, broth had a nice flavor, but the wontons were overcooked and mushy, the wonton wrapper turned to melted mush in my mouth and the filling fell out of them into the broth.

Maybe dining in I’ll have a better experience if I ever have the opportunity, however I’ve had much better Asian food for far less money.

The atmosphere is warm and upscale but still comfortable for a casual night out. Whether it’s sushi, cocktails, or any of the signature entrées, everything is top-quality. What has happened to the best Asian restaurant in the City? The menu has been abbreviated, the flavors have changed (and not positively), and the takeout portions are smaller. Seafood soup, gone! The food was ok but getting there was a core. We ordered 3 lunch sets. 2 came out wrong. As in the wrong dish. The waitress acted very annoyed about us asking to get the correct dish.
It then took forever to get the bill as the waitress vanished for a good 15min. She then proceeded to mess up running our cards. Came back to the table to demand (not ask) a different form of payment. Did the same with 2 more cards. I asked for the manager to which she snapped at me saying "it's clearly your stupid card".
I went to the front to pay and the card worked just fine....
The food tasted good but the service was horrible. Especially since they only had 5 tables at the time.
We won't be back.

I took the order I received to Jimmy Wans and asked them to please fix my order considering they will be paid my money through Uber Eats. The manager told me he would not fix the order.

Was hoping with the rating and price it would be phenomenal…. definitely NOT.

The food is sub par.

The sushi looked like it had been sitting - I get better at Sam’s club.
We couldn’t even eat it because it just tasted gross

The 3 chicken dishes we had ordered (sesame, general tso’s, and orange) were NOT crunchy at all and tasted like a $26 small portion of mall food - except mall food is better than what we had and waaaay cheaper.

Needless to say, I wouldn’t order from here again… I’m surprised it has such a high rating……..

Liked the egg roll, spicy tuna roll, and dumplings more than the dinner. The ginger salad wasn't even good in my opinion maybe it's cause I am used to ice burgh and just carrots mabe thin sliced cucumber, that could definitely be my own option for sure. Definitely, too much avocado in the California roll made it taste like mashed avocado with no other stand-out flavores. I did have a dish that I didn't think would be as tough, bland, dry, and hard to chew. Service was there we had ordered dumplings and we had to ask for them while we were eating. Cause they were not bought out yet. I was glad we asked for them because they were the 2nd favorite thing I ate that night.

After being seated, I asked for a gluten-free menu. Then the first thing I did was tell the server that we were gluten free, and everything we would be ordering would be gluten free. However, on FIVE different occasions, things with gluten came to our table. First, fried wonton strips to go with the soup. Plus a dipping sauce with gluten. Then more dipping sauce with gluten showed up with our dumplings. Then an order of potstickers (that we didn't order) arrived at our table. And at the end of the meal, after I made a bit of a big deal about all these mistakes, they gave us fortune cookies with our bill. It was horrible. In addition, my cocktail was undrinkable, and even though I took only one sip, the server didn't notice or didn't care to ask me if I didn't like it. The entrees were very tasty, but overpriced. But the way they handled a gluten free table (after being a restaurant that claims to be very gluten friendly) was unacceptable. Will never return.

The most friendly staff I have met thus far. Everyone was polite and tentative & the food was phenomenal!! The ambiance was amazing!! I will be back soon.

in a direct opposite of many Chinese/ Asian restaurants: very nice staff, attractive plating, but food was overpriced and not up to par: fish was not fresh, salad was aramark basic, crab buns were unbalanced in flavor and had almost no crab under the fried stuff, wasabi was tube horseradish. Pittsburgh has good food, sadly this wasn’t it.

Delicious and I really appreciate the gluten free menu. I had the spicy Cantonese noodle and it's great somewhere had GF noodles.

I ordered crispy chicken and broccoli. This is a standard dish at any Chinese restaurant. I’ve been to Jimmy Wans dozens of times but maybe this is the “new” Vehicle Home am Jimmy Wan. The dish came with four small pieces of broccoli that you couldn’t find at the bottom. At first glance, I didn’t think there was any I complained to the bartender that can we get additional broccoli and the manager came up and said you’re gonna have to order a side dish of broccoli. I showed them what was delivered and they said I know I know, but it really didn’t matter. The side dish of broccoli cost an additional nine dollars. I should’ve really complained. It feels really terrible when you get ripped off, especially when you’ve been loyal customers, not sure I’ll be back .

We enjoy everything about Jimmy Wan's but the food is paramount. Every time we come here we are totally satisfied

We love Jimmy Wan’s. We consider it one of the best Chinese restaurants in Pittsburgh (the other one being Chengdu Gourmet-for different food). Jimmy’s always provides tasty food and super service. The cocktails are great, too. We go there a couple of times a month, and it’s always a treat.

I went for lunch, and there was still plastic on my appetizer, like it was seran wrapped from yesterday. The food otherwise was fine, and they did get us fresh ones, but it wasn't a good look for the date I was with.

There was also NO AC and it was super hot inside, I was being cooked, and there was also the biggest fly I ever saw.. Overall for the price I was dissapointed. They must of had an off day.
